Harbour Publishing is pleased to announce a new distributor to replace General Distribution Services. Effective August 1, 2002, Harbour will be distributed by Whitecap Books in all provinces except British Columbia. We will continue to distribute our own titles in British Columbia from our well-established shipping and warehousing facility on the Sunshine Coast.

We have been making headway into retrieving our inventory from General Distribution Services and expect to have our entire list available from Whitecap’s Markham, Ontario warehouse by the middle of August. Whitecap is prepared to start receiving orders for Harbour’s frontlist and backlist titles - which include distributed titles published by Nightwood Editions and Caitlin Press - immediately as of August 1. Returns of Harbour books originally ordered from GDS will also be accepted by Whitecap for credit. Sales representation for Harbour Publishing and its distributed lines will continue to be handled by Kate Walker and Company across Canada.

“It’s been a difficult and uncertain three months, but we are relieved to be able to put it behind us and look ahead to the new season,” says Howard White, publisher of Harbour. “Whitecap is a strong, vibrant Canadian-owned press and we are pleased to have been able to forge this relationship with them.”
