Ex-Harbourite Takes Manhattan

Patrick White, 25, author of Mountie in Mukluks (Harbour, 2004), and former Harbour Publishing roustabout, was awarded a masters degree with honours by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York May 17. White worked at Harbour during summers between 1995 and 2001, serving variously as editorial assistant, production assistant, marketer, driver-salesman and warehouseman. He became interested in journalism while taking his bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Victoria, where he served as news co-editor of the campus newspaper, The Martlet. He has been living in Manhattan for the past year and has come to know the city intimately as an intern with Newsweek.
