Review in the Vancouver Province

Mack, hunter, guide, explorer, keeper of legends, teller of tales tall and true, Nuxalk Nation elder - he may be to B.C. what Daniel Boone is to the U.S.

He died in 1993, but fortunately, his physician, Harvey Thommasen, taped many of the colourful things Mack spoke of during his last years at Bella Coola hospital.

Mack is an exceptional storyteller and lived a fabulously varied life in the rich wilderness of Canada's West Coast, yet he also represents thousands of "ordinary" men of the bush country.

This is the sequel to his 1993 collection, Grizzlies and White Guys. Not all our pioneers are white guys.
