"Fishermen leave few memorials. Their working life is mostly unseen and leaves only scattered traces. The ocean was vast before and it is vast after they leave. It is as though they were never there. The results of their efforts shows no clues as to how it got on a supermarket shelf . . . Mysterious to the outsider, there are few books on the fishing life written by fishermen . . ." —Preface
